SHAH ALAM, April 29 — Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) is exploring a potential strategic collaboration with the Cambodian Muslim Teacher Association to strengthen international ties in Islamic education.
It said the association’s delegation recently visited the university for discussions focused on cooperation, particularly on increasing student enrolment from Cambodia in UIS academic programmes, as well as on collaboration in developing Islamic education plans in the country.
“Both parties also explored broader opportunities in academic development, student mobility, and strengthening educational ties between Malaysia and Cambodia,” UIS said in a statement today.
It added that the session reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to expanding its international network in delivering quality education.
“It also aims to provide access to quality education for students from around the world, particularly among Muslim communities in Cambodia. UIS hopes this collaboration can be strengthened and sustainably expanded in the future,” the university said.
Previously, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj decreed that the quality of degree-level studies at local Islamic universities is comparable to institutions abroad.
His Royal Highness also emphasised that this should be fully leveraged to promote local Islamic universities, particularly UIS, which he described as on par with institutions in the Middle East.
UIS is a fully owned Islamic higher education institution under the purview of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, established under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996.
