KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today issued a Level One hot weather status or alert category for 16 areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
In the Peninsula, the affected areas are the entire state of Perlis, while in Kedah, they include Kubang Pasu, Pendang, Kota Setar, and Padang Terap.
The same warning was also issued for the Kuala Kangsar area in Perak and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur; in Kelantan, it involves Jeli, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, and Machang; and in Selangor, it involves Gombak and Sepang.
Also listed are two areas in Sabah, namely Beaufort and Telupid, as well as Limbang in Sarawak.
According to MetMalaysia, a Level One or alert status is issued when the daily maximum temperature reaches 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
