SHAH ALAM, Apr 24 — The Selangor government plans to boost job opportunities in Kuala Langat — and in particular, Morib — through integrated development, skills training and career programmes by linking local residents with employers.
According to state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman, the state has outlined several strategies to expand employment prospects for locals based on long-term planning and targeted initiatives.
He said the Kuala Langat Local Plan 2030 emphasises the creation of quality jobs through an integrated approach combining tourism, infrastructure and the local economy.
“The state government plans to attract investments and develop small-scale industries in Morib to improve well-being and expand economic opportunities for local residents.
“These efforts will also be strengthened by promoting the rural economy and tourism sector, including upgrading tourism products, enhancing homestay programmes, and supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through Selangor platform initiatives.
“Additionally, Morib’s proximity to industrial zones in Kuala Langat such as Bukit Changgang, Telok Panglima Garang and Olak Lempit makes it a highly strategic location to be developed as a hub for light industry and logistics.
“This is expected to generate wider economic spillover effects and create more job opportunities for the local community,” he said during a question and answer session at the State Legislative Assembly today.

Apart from that, Papparaidu said career carnival programmes have become a platform to connect local jobseekers directly with employers.
He added that the state is also focusing on upskilling efforts, including training programmes conducted at institutions such as the Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC).
“Through these programmes, local residents have the opportunity to undergo free training in technical, logistics and manufacturing fields, especially school leavers, before being matched directly with suitable industries,” he said.
He said entrepreneurship development is also being strengthened via the Selangor Plus platform to help new entrepreneurs generate income and build sustainable businesses.
He was responding to Morib assemblyman Rosnizan Ahmad on economic and job opportunities, including for Orang Asli in the area.
He also highlighted ongoing projects such as the Selangor Maritime Gateway and river development initiatives, which are expected to boost tourism and logistics ecosystems in Kuala Langat.
“The Morib beach rehabilitation project has reached 96 per cent completion and is expected to be completed as scheduled.
“This project is expected to revitalise the local economy and position Pantai Morib as one of the main tourism destinations in Selangor,” he said.
