SHAH ALAM, Apr 24 — Air Selangor has permanently disconnected an illegal water supply connection at a prominent premises in Jalan Ampang following complaints over the activity.

The enforcement operation carried out yesterday involved 15 Air Selangor officers together with the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

Air Selangor said inspections at the site found an unauthorised connection that was believed to be used to obtain water supply illegally.

“Air Selangor has taken action following complaints of illegal water supply connection at a building in Jalan Ampang.

“The illegal connection was found, and permanent disconnection action was carried out. A compensation claim notice for water loss was also issued to the premises owner,” it said in a statement.

Air Selangor stressed that illegal connections and water theft are offences under the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (WSIA).

It added that enforcement efforts will continue to be intensified to prevent misuse of water supply.
