SHAH ALAM, April 23 — A global legal coalition has been set up to intensify efforts to bring violators of international law to justice, especially with regard to Palestinian causes.
The initiative was launched under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Centre for Human Rights Research & Advocacy (CENTHRA) representing Sumud Nusantara and Waves of Freedom France (WOFF), and Global Coalition to End the Occupation of Palestine (SANED).
The deal was signed during the Sumud Parliamentary Congress in Brussels, Belgium, yesterday, marking a more systematic international effort.
According to a statement, the partnership aims to coordinate legal action including filing a complaint in France against several Israeli officers, following the passage of a law by the Knesset in March that would allow death by hanging of Palestinian prisoners.
The complaint targets individuals including Itamar Ben-Gvir, Limor Son Har-Melech, Zvika Fogel, Nissim Vaturi, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging they had a role in formulating, supporting, and passing the law.
The same statement said at least five more legal actions would be filed soon in several European jurisdictions, in an integrated effort to address Israel’s violations of the Geneva Convention, which could potentially be classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The establishment of the coalition also provides a platform for more international organisations to join efforts to intensify legal action against the Zionist regime at the global stage.
