Task force repatriates 21 containers of e-waste from Port Klang

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — The Port Klang E-Waste Joint Task Force (JTF) has repatriated 21 containers of e-waste to their country of origin through Ops Green Shield, which was launched on February 27.

Port Klang Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the team’s enforcement yielded the detection of 763 containers of e-waste.

“In phase one, 148 containers were inspected, of which 21 containers were re-exported to their countries of origin, in accordance with regulations and laws.

“In phase two, 615 containers are undergoing follow-up action, which includes 131 containers under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001; 112 containers by AKPS; and 372 containers by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), which were inspected in 2025,” he said in a statement today.

According to Nik Ezanee, the team also identified four liners with 15 containers that have not responded, and said reminders will be issued if no feedback is received by May 2.

He said enforcement action would be taken, including temporarily freezing the operators’ licenses until the containers are removed.

He said AKPS would continue to inspect trade containers in line with the ban on e-waste imports, which came into effect on April 1 through the gazettement of the Customs (Amendment) Order (No.3) 2026, under the First Schedule of the order.

“AKPS will continue to strengthen control and enforcement at the country’s entry points to ensure border sovereignty and national interests are preserved,” Nik Ezanee said.
