SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — All 22 individuals, including 12 police officers, who were trapped across the river following a water surge phenomenon at Kampung Orang Asli Pertak in Kuala Kubu Baharu, were successfully rescued.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said his team managed to bring all the victims to safety at 7.50pm.

“We received an emergency call at 6.42pm before deploying a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle and a Toyota Hilux from the Kuala Kubu Baharu Fire and Rescue Station.

“The incident site was located about 20 kilometres from the station. The rescue operation for the trapped victims was carried out once the team arrived on location at 7.07pm,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecast thunderstorms and heavy rain in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya until 6pm today.
