PUTRAJAYA, Sept 4 — Malaysia continues to advocate for peace, stability, and denuclearisation on the Korean Peninsula through diplomatic and peaceful means.
The Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) said Malaysia reiterates its consistent support for inclusive dialogue, regional cooperation and full adherence to international law.
It noted that a brief encounter between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un during the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing, China yesterday was entirely coincidental.
“As already mentioned by Prime Minister himself, the Prime Minister’s handshake with the DPRK leader was a spontaneous gesture at an official event where numerous leaders were present,” Wisma Putra said in a statement today.
