BATU CAVES, Sept 1 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has pledged a transparent investigation into the case of a Form Three student who fell from a school dormitory in Sabak Bernam, while stressing that the immediate priority is the teenager’s recovery.
He said the state is committed to ensuring the student receives proper treatment and support before any further steps are taken.
“We want the student to be given space to recover first. At the same time, the investigation will continue transparently and thoroughly.
“Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail has already met the student’s family, and I myself will visit when the time is more appropriate,” he said after launching the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah 100 Carnival at Padang Awam Batu Caves today.
Media reports stated the student was in critical condition after allegedly being bullied before falling from the dormitory on August 24.
Selangor police chief Dato’ Shazeli Kahar said statements from more than 12 individuals, including students and school staff, have been recorded to assist investigations.
The case is being probed under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, while the Education Ministry is also conducting an internal review into compliance with dormitory safety standard operating procedures (SOPs).
