PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was seen showing a thumbs up after the Merdeka celebration at Dataran Putrajaya today.
Shortly after the departure of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, Anwar spent about five minutes greeting parade participants and attendees at the venue.
On the human graphic terrace by 2,000 secondary school students during the event, Anwar expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all those involved in the stage, as well as those who made this year’s celebration a success.
“I’m proud of you. This is the best performance in Malaysia’s history. Do study hard,” he told the students.
Themed “Malaysia Madani: People Minded”, the celebration was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, as well as Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who chairs the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2025 main committee.
The parade saw eighty-one contingents, comprising 14,062 participants, including 21 marching bands, seven floats, 508 assets from the Malaysian Armed Forces, and 116 animals in service.
This year’s Merdeka celebration drew more than 100,000 people, who have been thronging to Dataran Putrajaya since last night.
