KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has ordered all mosques and surau in Johor to hold special prayers, the “solat hajat” and “doa selamat”, following several tremors that hit Segamat since Sunday (August 24).
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page, the sovereign called for the prayers to be held to seek Allah SWT’s protection over the people, safeguarding them from misfortune and disaster in the wake of the tremors.
“His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, also pray that the state of Johor and all Malaysians will always be blessed with peace, safety, and protection from any calamity,” it read.
Within eight days, four earthquakes have been recorded in Segamat, with the first at 6.13am on Sunday, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, followed by one on Wednesday (August 27) at 8.59am, measuring 3.2, at 7.56pm on Thursday (August 28) (2.5) and at 4.24am yesterday (3.4).
The latest tremor was reported at 7.29am today, measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale.
