KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — Eleven members of Parliament aligned with the Madani Government were today appointed as Friends of Ministry (FOM) for the National Unity Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said the letters of appointment were presented by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang at the Parliament Building.
Those appointed are Fong Kui Lun (Bukit Bintang), Tan Kok Wai (Cheras), Chow Kon Yeow (Batu Kawan), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (Bandar Tun Razak), Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Gombak), Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (Sungai Petani), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Bera), Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (Sembrong), Datuk Seri Saravanan Murugan (Tapah), Mohamad Shafizan Haji Kepli (Batang Lupar) and Roy Angau Anak Gingkoi (Lubok Antu).
Aaron said FOM plays an important role in offering suggestions and insights to improve the ministry’s policies and programmes, ensuring that inclusive, progressive, and values-based unity agenda can be achieved more effectively.
He said the ministry is also conducting engagement sessions nationwide to draft a Nation-Building Action Plan, followed by the organisation of the Nation-Building Conference in October.
Aaron also outlined the ministry’s key initiatives for this year under the theme Harmony in Diversity, which will be implemented through four main efforts: the Unity Ecosystem, the Madani Harmony Initiative, Exploration of the Rukun Negara, and Sociocultural Community.
The FOM initiative, introduced by the Madani Government Supporters Club (BBC), aims to strengthen and empower the role of government MPs throughout the Dewan Rakyat session.
FOM also serves to empower MPs as the ministry’s agents in explaining government policies and guidelines more effectively at the grassroots level.
