PNSB plants 300 mangrove saplings under sustainability project

SABAK BERNAM, Aug 28 — Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) has planted 300 mangrove saplings at Pantai Bagan Nakhoda Omar here in conjunction with its 35th anniversary.

Its corporate social responsibility programme was done on August 23 with cooperation from the Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB), Selangor Forestry Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Kuiscell Sdn Bhd, local residents, and volunteers.

PNSB chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said the mangrove-planting project is not just to strengthen the natural barriers to prevent beach erosion, but reflects the company’s commitment towards environmental sustainability.

“For our anniversary, we not only renewed the face of corporate branding, but strengthened our commitment towards our social responsibility values.

“This initiative is a sign that environmental sustainability, community well-being, and the state’s economic development must move together,” Raja Shahrir said in a statement.

He added that the programme supports the United Nations’ 13th and 15th Sustainable Development Goals — Climate Action and Life On Land — through efforts to mitigate climate change and conserve beach ecosystems.

Besides planting mangroves, various activities were held during the programme, including a talk on safety, a sharing session on mangrove ecosystems, and interactions with the local community to strengthen bonds between the company, state agencies, and the people.
