PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 — The Education Ministry (MOE) will review and take immediate action on recommendations submitted by the Special Select Committee on Women, Children, and Community Development, which aims to combat bullying in schools.

In a statement today, the MOE said among the suggestions put forward was to improve the bullying complaint channels to be more child-friendly.

“Other recommendations include immediate and widespread dissemination of information regarding bullying misconduct, providing an option for anonymous complaints, and protecting the confidentiality of students’ personal information.

“The committee also suggested ensuring protection for complainants, establishing a special anti-bullying committee at the school level, and improving guidelines for managing bullying misconduct,” the statement said.

The MOE is implementing improvement measures to strengthen safety aspects in all educational institutions under its management.

“The MOE welcomes suggestions and feedback from all segments of society to comprehensively combat bullying misconduct. At the same time, efforts are being mobilised in collaboration with all parties to ensure the goal of creating a safe ecosystem in all educational institutions is achieved,” the statement read.
