SUBANG JAYA, Aug 27 — The Selangor Youth Community’s Leaders, Entrepreneurship, Acceleration and Development (SAY LEAD) initiative is the best platform for helping people with disabilities to pursue a career in business.
State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said disabled people must not be sidelined as they also actively contribute to the state and the country’s economy.
“SAY LEAD gives recognition to all OKU (disabled) entrepreneurs. The participants now have a means to grow their business and market their products to the world.
“God willing, we will continue rolling out such entrepreneurship programmes that directly provide knowledge and assistance to the OKU,” he said, following the conclusion of the SAY LEAD Entrepreneurship League for the Disabled programme held at Sunway Resort Hotel in Subang Jaya yesterday.
The event was graced by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Najwan also congratulated the winners of the programme and gave words of support to those who did not win, urging them to spread their wings and try to reach new targets.
“I hope you will remain strong-willed, fervent and committed to keep growing your own potential,” he told them.
“Take this experience as the first step towards making huge strides forward. Show yourselves that your setbacks are not barriers, but opportunities to become stronger and more competitive. Move forward with confidence, for you are an inspiration to everyone,” he added.
The event concluded with Tengku Amir presenting the Selangor Disabled Entrepreneur Icon award to three disabled entrepreneurs from Selangor.
Dessert entrepreneur Nur Sabrina, who is hearing-impaired, was crowned champion, handicraft entrepreneur Norhaiza, also hearing-impaired, got second place while third place went to ready-to-eat sambal entrepreneur Azura Othman, who has a physical disability.
