SHAH ALAM, Aug 22 — Over 4,000 jobs are up for grabs at the Special Jobcare Career Carnival, which targets vulnerable groups, on October 6.
State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the job fair would be held at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre from 9am to 4pm, targeting people with disabilities, Orang Asli, the poor or asnaf, and ex-convicts.
Senior citizens, women and housewives wanting to go back to work, those unemployed, and unhoused people are also welcome to apply for jobs at the fair.
“This initiative is a manifestation of the state government’s commitment to creating fair, comprehensive and inclusive job opportunities for people from all walks of life. It was organised with cooperation from MYFutureJobs.
“I believe everyone deserves a second chance, a third one, even. With the right support, they can not only learn to be independent, but give back to the community,” Papparaidu told Media Selangor.
He added that 185 of the 428 jobseekers who visited the Special Jobcare last year managed to gain employment.
“I invite all parties, be they government or private agencies or community groups, to jointly support this effort.
“Let’s build a state that is not only economically progressive, but rich with compassion and concern for those who need it,” Papparaidu said.
