SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — Childcare centres (taska) are required to have emergency management certificates and display them clearly on the premises, as it is a main condition for them to gain registration approval, said Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM) director Azmir Kassim.

He said this is to ensure minders at every taska are prepared to face emergency situations and inspire parents’ confidence that their children will be safe at these centres.

“From this year, every taska must have emergency management certificates so minders know what to do in times of need,” he said when met after the Taska Advocacy Programme and Selangor Taska Day closing ceremony at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building recently.

Azmir also said these certificates are minimum standards taska operators must fulfil, in addition to the required courses and safety features.

He added that JKM officers will monitor taska twice a year to ensure compliance.

To ensure courses are up to par, Azmir said the Selangor JKM has availed special modules and syllabi to taska associations as a condition for registration and to instill higher professionalism in minders.

“The Persatuan Taska, Tadika dan Pusat Jagaan Selangor will be an implementing partner in organising and managing courses for taska minders and operators.

“With a comprehensive module and systematic training, we want to ensure every minder understands their responsibilities, is prepared in all situations including in emergencies, and knows how to act quickly and effectively,” Azmir said.
