SHAH ALAM, Aug 16 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) has signed a comprehensive partnership deal with South China Publishing Group, in conjunction with the South China Book Fair 2025 in Guangzhou.
The agreement was signed by PPAS director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhammad and South China Publishing Group international department director Chen Bin, and covers four aspects: a bilateral production programme, a translation initiative, the joint production of special materials, and a knowledge-sharing platform.
Mastura said the effort will be a permanent bridge between the creative communities in both countries and will support the growth of the creative economy in Malaysia.
“This cooperation is not just for translation rights or publication channels, but provides space for a new paradigm in cultural exchanges,” she said in a statement today.
In line with its mission to support new talent, PPAS at the fair introduced works, mostly from independent publishers, by local writers and illustrators.
This deal will be enhanced with South China Publishing Group’s involvement in the Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) from November 28 to December 7, organised by the state government with PPAS as the secretariat, at the Setia City Convention Centre here.
The South China Book Fair is known as one of Asia’s main publishing events, and is an important platform to highlight Selangor as a regional literary exchange and creative hub.
