SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — The auction for special licence plates with the index “SIS”, in honour of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, will open for bids tomorrow.
In a Facebook post, the Selangor Royal Office announced the auction will be held in conjunction with the Ruler’s 80th birthday in December and the silver jubilee of His Royal Highness’ reign next year.
The special registration number is being offered by the Transport Ministry under the Road Transport Department (JPJ) via JPJeBid.
“Public bidding is based on the following regulations, namely that the opening date is August 15 (Friday) and closes at 10pm, August 19 (Tuesday). The date for the bidding results is August 20 (Wednesday),” read the post.
Bidding is subject to existing terms and conditions set through JPJeBid, while the prices will be according to minimum rates set by the JPJ.
According to the post, JPJ is the only entity that will manage the sale of these special registration numbers and no third party would be involved.
Some proceeds from the sales will be channelled to a foundation under the patronage of the Selangor Sultan for charitable activities, including scholarships and emergency funds for those in need.
The foundation, which will be chaired by Selangor Royal Council member and former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, will be subject to transparent procedures and governance, said the Facebook post.
