HULU SELANGOR, Aug 10 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari officiated the Ehsan Dairy Farm groundbreaking ceremony in Sungai Tengi here today.
The event for the Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation’s (PKPS) Dairy Cattle Complex was also attended by state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim and PKPS group CEO Datuk Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi.
In a statement, PKPS said the 9.7ha field will house over 1,200 high-quality Jersey-Holstein Friesian dairy cows imported from Australia.
The dairy complex, set to be fully operational by January next year, will produce up to 1.8 million litres of fresh milk annually and lower Malaysia’s dependence on imported milk.
“The Ehsan Dairy Farm project will present an economic impact by generating an annual income of over RM7.5 million and creating more than 100 jobs.
“The complex will integrate smart farm management technology, automation, and a digital animal health (system), while supporting the development of a downstream agroindustry ecosystem including processing, packaging, and the marketing of local milk,” it added.

The statement said that close cooperation between the federal government, state government, and implementing agencies such as PKPS can make Ehsan Dairy Farm the main model for Malaysia’s dairy farms.
“This project is also a main component in the implementation of the Selangor Food Security Action Framework 2021-2025 with three main components: production, distribution, and (food) security).
“It reflects a long-term commitment to the preparation of healthy food, reduced dependence on imports, and the protection of national food sovereignty,” it said.
PKPS added that Selangor has continued to cement its role in the food security agenda via various strategic initiatives.
“Jualan Ehsan Rahmah benefits seven million residents, with essential goods costing 15 to 30 per cent less than market prices.
“The setup of the Selangor Food Warehouse as the state’s strategic food stockpile and the implementation of Jelapang Padi Darul Ehsan and Ladang Jagung Bijian Ehsan would also strengthen the local supply of staple food,” PKPS said.
