Police reminds ‘Malaysia Bangkit Untuk Gaza’ rally participants to obey the law

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has reminded organisers and participants of tomorrow’s Malaysia Bangkit Untuk Gaza rally to comply fully with the law throughout the event.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said peaceful assembly is a constitutional right, but must be exercised responsibly without any prohibited acts.

Prohibited items include sharp objects like metal rods and wooden sticks, weapons like knives and machetes, as well as pyrotechnics that include firecrackers, fireworks, smoke bombs, or flares.

Participants are also banned from displaying banners with 3R (race, religion, royalty) elements, making defamatory statements, or even bringing children to the rally.

He warned against rioting, defying authorities’ instructions or flying drones during the event.

“Firm action will be taken against anyone causing disturbances or extreme provocations. PDRM is committed to ensuring safety in Kuala Lumpur without disrupting daily life or the economy,” Sulizmie said in a statement today.

Traffic congestion near the city centre is expected, but control measures will be in place to ease movement.

Organised by the Humanity 4 Gaza (H4G) Secretariat and Malaysian Ulama Association, the rally is expected to draw about 5,000 participants, including non-governmental organisations, students, and the public.
