NEW YORK, July 29 — United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirmed that the two-state solution remains the only credible path to achieving a just and lasting peace, describing it as an essential condition for peace across the broader Middle East, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Speaking at the opening session of the ministerial meeting of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, he expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for co-chairing the meeting alongside France.
Guterres urged the international community to intensify efforts towards realising the two-state solution, emphasising that the conference represents an opportunity to move towards ending the occupation and achieving lasting peace in the region.
He emphasised that the two-state solution is the only framework grounded in international law and supported by the international community.
