SHAH ALAM, July 25 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) today launched 12 frozen food products under the Ehsan brand to strengthen the state’s food supply chain and increase its revenue.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the initiative also covers six cooking oil products, including sunflower oil and margarine.

“This is yet another important achievement in ensuring PKPS’ continuous contribution to the development of the food and agriculture industry in Selangor.

“We launched 12 frozen products such as carbonara spring rolls, veggie spring rolls, chicken samosas, chicken curry puffs, pratha, and roti boom,” he said.

Izham added that the high-quality sunflower oil will be exported to Australia from next month, under a collaboration with Ego U19, involving two containers or around 30 tonnes.

“This oil is highly suitable for the export market. Although it is quite premium, it is still offered in limited quantities for the local market. We will start with Australia and look into the potential of other markets, as the … external vegetable oil market is rather competitive,” he told reporters when met after the launch of Ehsan brand frozen products at the PKPS Building here today.

He added that the launch is part of PKPS’ commercial agenda to strengthen the state’s involvement in the strategic food and agriculture sector.

“The state government is aiming for more PKPS products to penetrate the external market, in line with the intention to widen the agriculture economy sustainably and maintain national food security.

“We will look at the whole food supply chain from land use, seeds, breeding, production to marketing, and PKPS’ role as the main implementor, with state and federal funding support,” Izham said.
