SHAH ALAM, July 23 — The state government is continuing discussions on the implementation of the Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) under several local councils to improve the state’s efficiency and revenue.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that so far, only the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has stated its objection to the initiative.
“This is the approval process at the local council level. The one objecting now is MBPJ, and we will look into the foundation of its objection as we want to increase revenue collection, especially parking revenue.
“Before this, parking revenue collected was only 30 per cent, which means 70 per cent was not collected. We must increase this with technology.
“But (state executive councillor for tourism and local government) Dato’ Ng Suee Lim will respond to (the MBPJ) to explain, and we will discuss further as this is the process to get local councils’ approval,” he told a press conference today.

Earlier, Amirudin launched the Selangor State Development Corporation’s (PKNS) BizMatch Mega 2025 entrepreneurs’ gathering at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Seksyen 7 here.
Also present were state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi and PKNS group chief executive officer Dato’ Mahmud Abbas.
Previously, Ng said a concessionaire would be appointed to collect parking revenue through the SIP under four local councils from August 1.
Other than the MBPJ, the other local authorities are the Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, and Selayang Municipal Council.
Ng said the state government is optimistic that the new system will increase parking revenue collection in the long term, though there may be a temporary decline in the early stages.
