AMPANG, July 17 — Tourism Selangor expects to draw 30,000 visitors to its flagship Selangor Travel Fair, to be held at Central Market in Kuala Lumpur on July 26 and 27.
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the event, which will feature over 30 exhibitors, will showcase local attractions, cultural experiences and live performances to boost domestic tourism under Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025.
“The Selangor Travel Fair will spotlight the best of our nine districts, from cultural showcases to SMEs and crafts.
“Visitors can also look forward to workshops, a live podcast by Media Selangor, and the Surprising Selangor concert featuring Aizat Amdan, Lah Ahmad and cultural troupe Padat,” she said during Tourism Selangor’s Media and Influencer Hi-Tea at Tamarind Springs here today.
The hi-tea, attended by state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, brought together over 100 media practitioners and influencers to recognise their contributions in promoting Selangor’s tourism offerings.
Chua said the attention generated by the fair will boost Selangor’s tourism visibility beyond this year, serving as a springboard for Visit Malaysia 2026.
The fair will also mark the official launch of the Selangor Kan Ada! campaign video and theme song, part of the broader VSY2025 initiative.
As of March, tourist arrivals in Selangor stood at 1.77 million, with 72 per cent comprising domestic travellers.
The remaining 28 per cent were international visitors, the main segments of which were tourists from China (19 per cent), Singapore (12 per cent), Indonesia (6 per cent), Japan (5 per cent), and India (5 per cent).
Selangor aims to draw eight million tourists and RM11.2 billion in tourist receipts by year end.
Tourism Selangor also announced updates to the VSY2025 Tourism Grant, which opened for applications on July 1. With RM300,000 in total funding, the grant supports up to 30 recipients under three categories: Discover Selangor (RM10,000), Splendid Selangor (RM20,000) and Surprising Selangor (RM30,000).
Applications close on October 31.
