SHAH ALAM, July 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today said the appointment of Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd to collect parking fees in four areas of jurisdiction was done via open tender.
He said the company, which was appointed by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, was chosen after assessing 26 other companies.
“Percentages can be renegotiated but it is reminded that it was not direct nego(tiations) as 26 other companies were also assessed.
“MBI prioritises the state’s interests, and would not have put it fully in the hands of any party,” he said when met at a Platform Selangor event at the State Secretariat Building today.
From August 1, Rantaian Mesra will collect parking charges in areas under the Shah Alam City Council, Petaling Jaya City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, and Selayang Municipal Council’s jurisdiction.
State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said 40 per cent of the revenue will go to the local authorities, 10 per cent to MBI, and 50 per cent to the concessionaire.
