SEREMBAN, July 15 — The proposal to review water tariffs in Negeri Sembilan, submitted to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), aims to address water supply challenges and improve service efficiency for the well-being of the people.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who also chairs Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan (SAINS), said the move is crucial for the maintenance and repair of ageing water infrastructure.
“SAINS allocates up to RM20 million annually for the upgrading and replacement of old pipelines.
“We also plan to refurbish existing water tanks and repair those that are no longer functioning,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new AEON Seremban 2 Shopping Centre development today.
Earlier, SPAN confirmed it had received applications to review water tariff rates from water operators in 10 states under its jurisdiction. However, the proposals are still under close evaluation.
In addition to Negeri Sembilan, the other states involved are Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, and Pahang.
