SHAH ALAM, July 14 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI is offering 900 Selangor Platform (PLATS) digital food coupons worth RM10 each in conjunction with the ongoing Turath Islami Selangor Festival (FITS 3.0).
With a RM9,000 allocation, PLATS project director Hazwani Sabudin said the coupons, distributed in stages at the grounds of Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, are a gesture of the state’s support for both traders and congregants attending the festival.
“Alhamdulillah, traders under the PLATS initiative were given the opportunity to take part in this festival. On Saturday (July 5), 300 digital coupons were distributed, while the remaining 600 will be offered this Thursday (July 17) and Friday (July 18).
“The coupons will be given to individuals who complete a survey form conducted by the Selangor Research Institute and can be redeemed at the PLATS food trucks located within the mosque compound,” he told Media Selangor.
PLATS was introduced in 2020 with Malaysia’s first digital Ramadan bazaar to assist small traders whose incomes were affected by the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative was expanded a year later to support traders year-round, not just during the fasting month, and continues to be implemented with the cooperation of relevant agencies.
To date, 43,800 entrepreneurs have joined the platform, with MBI targeting 50,000 registered entrepreneurs by the end of this year.
