SHAH ALAM, July 9 — It is unnecessary for the state government to issue a white paper regarding the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion, and it should instead allow the specially formed committee to examine the full investigation report of the incident.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that once the committee’s review report is complete, it may be debated openly in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
“Regarding the call for a white paper, I believe we can review the findings by the special committee later.

“So there is no need for a white paper; we can simply review the committee’s report and discuss it. Our Assembly operates openly, and there is no issue with us presenting the (special committee’s) report,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking during the debate over the report on the incident in the Assembly session today.
Yesterday, the opposition proposed that the state government publish a white paper on the explosion tragedy to be openly debated in the Assembly session.
Meanwhile, he stressed that the investigation into the gas pipeline fire was conducted independently without interference from the state government.
“To those who want to question its independence, I believe they can judge for themselves — the findings were announced, and I have read and presented the report.
“In the Batang Kali landslide incident (on December 2022), there was a request for the investigation report to be released, and we presented it to the public,” Amirudin said.
