Rakyat Digital initiative offers free courses, strengthens people's digital skills

PUTRAJAYA, July 8 — The Rakyat Digital initiative, led by the Digital Ministry through MyDIGITAL Corporation, is launching a comprehensive effort to enhance the digital literacy of Malaysians by offering various online courses at no cost.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the initiative marks a significant milestone in the country's journey towards becoming an advanced digital nation, aligning with Malaysia's goal of making digital capabilities and artificial intelligence (AI) the primary drivers of economic growth and global competitiveness.

"Following the success of the AI untuk Rakyat programme, with over a million citizens participating in this programme within six months, all these users are now part of the Rakyat Digital initiative.

"Now, the Rakyat Digital initiative has expanded its offerings by providing more free courses," he said in a statement today.

Gobind added that various free courses are offered, including CyberSAFE untuk Rakyat, Generative AI, Cloud untuk Rakyat, AI Fluency, and Blockchain untuk Rakyat.

"New courses such as Data untuk Rakyat and Quantum untuk Rakyat will be introduced soon to deepen the digital knowledge of the people," he said.

The initiative brings together the government and industry partners from across the country, including contributors like Cybersecurity Malaysia, Intel, iTrain, Microsoft, and Trainocate.

All the industry partners jointly provided practical and interactive online modules to strengthen the country's digital capabilities.

"This collaborative model combines public sector leadership with industry expertise. The Ministry of Digital actively interacts with all strategic partners to advance the skills enhancement agenda and welcomes new collaborations," Gobind said.

The collaboration could enhance cost efficiency by allowing industry partners to provide high-value content for free, thereby making high-quality training accessible to the public without charge and expanding reach and impact.

The Rakyat Digital initiative, which was launched in December, brings various benefits to the people, namely accessibility and inclusivity, flexible learning, and a seamless experience.
