KLANG, July 2 — The construction of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) is proceeding according to schedule, with the complete demolition of the Shah Alam Stadium completed several days ahead of the June 30 deadline.
Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI's chief executive officer Dato' Saipolyazan M Yusop said they are currently undertaking the detailing process, which is expected to take up to six months.
“Preliminary works have already begun on-site, including the installation of hoarding barriers as part of Phase One of the KSSA project.

“Once the detailing process is completed within six months and all approvals from the relevant authorities are obtained, we expect construction to begin in October or November this year,” he said.
He was speaking to the press after attending the launch of the Sungai Klang waste segregation centre today, which was officiated by Klang Mayor Dato' Abd Hamid Hussain.
Saipolyazan added that the KSSA project will be constructed three to four metres higher than the original site using conventional construction methods.
The state government chose conventional construction over the Industrialised Building System (IBS) due to its more cost-effective nature, with the project expected to be fully completed by 2029.
“The IBS concept involves a lot of prefabrication. They produce the beams externally and install them using cranes. It is quicker and cleaner on-site, but the cost is higher,” he said.
In May, the KSSA development letter of acceptance handover ceremony was held, witnessed by the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
Developed by MRCB Land Sdn Bhd via its wholly owned subsidiary Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd, the first phase of the KSSA project involves the reconstruction of the stadium, a parking plaza, and an integrated terminal connecting to Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3).
The second phase includes commercial development like a sports and youth wing, an indoor theatre with a 10,000-seat capacity, retail spaces, and recreational areas.
The final stage is the construction of a hotel, expected to be ready by the end of 2029. This will ultimately position KSSA as an integrated hub for sports, culture, community, and entrepreneurship.
