PUTRAJAYA, 30 Jun — Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has been appointed as the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency's (AKPS) Director-General, under the Home Affairs Ministry.
The appointment, which takes effect tomorrow, is for two years, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar expressed confidence that Mohd Shuhaily, 53, who has 26 years of experience in the police service, would be able to lead the AKPS with distinction.
“This confidence is based on Mohd Shuhaily's competence and extensive experience in various units in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), both at national and international levels.
"His leadership is also expected to further strengthen the country's border security and uphold a culture of integrity in line with the Madani values," he said in a statement today.
Shuhaily graduated with a Bachelor of International Relations from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
He previously served in Washington, the United States, as a police attaché from 2010 to 2013. Shuhaily was appointed as Bukit Aman JSJ director on August 15, 2023.
