SEPANG, June 26 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) has identified 13 illegal dumping sites and action is currently underway to shut down these locations.

Its Deputy President Muhamad Shah Osmin said that in addition to closing the identified sites, continuous monitoring is being carried out, especially in hotspot areas, including apprehending the culprits.

“As of June 2025, a total of 13 illegal dumping sites remain active, while nine have been fully closed thanks to ongoing monitoring and enforcement efforts.

“Almost every week, we apprehend individuals involved in illegal dumping, but catching the masterminds behind these activities is particularly challenging due to the evidentiary requirements needed for prosecution and legal action,” he said.

Records also show 50 lorry seizures and 70 compounds issued against parties found guilty of illegal dumping. Each seized lorry is subjected to a maximum compound of RM2,000 following existing enforcement provisions.

As part of ongoing surveillance efforts, seven closed-circuit television (CCTV) units have been installed at locations identified as illegal dumping ‘hotspots’.

MPSepang also urged the local community to remain vigilant and provide information if they witness any illegal dumping activities.

“The public is encouraged to come forward with information if they witness irresponsible parties disposing of waste illegally,” Muhamad Shah said.

The council remains committed to stepping up enforcement to ensure the cleanliness and image of the Sepang district are preserved.
