SHAH ALAM, June 26 — The Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) inspected 1,405 premises statewide yesterday to ensure compliance with regulations governing the sale of essential consumer goods, particularly in the retail sector.

Its director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the checks and advocacy activities covered premises in both urban and rural areas, including localities like Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Gombak, Kajang, Sepang, Kuala Kubu Baharu, and Kuala Selangor.

The checks, carried out as part of the 'Kita Gempur' campaign, focused on ensuring compliance with KPDN regulations.

These specifically targeted essential items, including one kg packets of cooking oil, one kg of wheat flour, one kg of granulated sugar, chicken eggs, vegetables, canned food, and other essential goods.

"The checks involved 1,405 premises, with KPDN Selangor emphasising compliance advocacy in areas such as price tagging, weighing and measuring instruments, promotional sale activities, advertising, and other relevant regulations.

"These checks are in accordance with provisions under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Consumer Protection Act 1999, and the Weights and Measures Act 1972. Traders were also given advocacy to understand all legal provisions," he said in a statement today.

Zuhairi added that KPDN Selangor's effort to mobilise all its officers to check at least 1,000 premises within a day aims to demonstrate their field presence while carrying out 'advoinspect', a combination of advocacy and inspection to help traders understand and comply with current regulations.

It also distributed and assisted 1,000 traders in displaying the KPDN SPOT-i QR Code stickers.

This initiative provides consumer information and business guidelines in a digital format.
