SEPANG, June 26 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) has outlined five projects to enhance development and transform residents’ socio-economy.
MPSepang deputy chairman Muhamad Shah Osmin said the council aims to make the district a “strategic technology gateway” in a sustainable community, in line with its vision “Sepang, Sustainable, Smart”.
“Five main projects have been identified as game changers that will transform the district’s development and socio-economic landscape,” he said when presenting the Sepang Local Plan 2035 (Replacement) draft at an MPSepang meeting yesterday.
Shah said the projects include turning Cyberjaya into a regional hub for high technology and developing KLIA Aeropolis as a fully integrated logistics and aerospace centre.
“Southern Sepang will be promoted as an ecological and cultural tourism destination.
“Enhancements will also be made to the Land Connectivity Master Plan, along with the planning of an Environmentally Friendly Drainage Master Plan based on the ‘sponge city’ concept,” he said.
Shah added that MPSepang is outlining strategies across various sectors and phases, which are set to generate an annual gross domestic product of RM30 billion by 2035.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman said MPSepang will hold a publicity and public participation event from July 1 to August 1 on the Sepang Local Plan 2035 (Replacement) draft.
“The programme will employ two exhibition methods for publicity and public participation — fixed exhibits at government offices (July 1 to August 1), and roving exhibits at shopping malls and strategic locations in Sepang.
“This initiative will allow residents and stakeholders to share their input on the draft,” Shah said.
The roving exhibits will be held at:
1. Dpulze Shopping Centre (July 1-July 6)
2. IOI City Mall (July 7-July 12)
3. KIP Mall Kota Warisan (July 13-July 18)
4. Mitsui Outlet Park (July 19-July 24)
5. Bagan Lalang information centre (July 25-August 1)
