PETALING JAYA, June 15 — A total of 74 women aged between 18 and 45 from across the country have been selected to participate in the Selangor Women’s Assembly (Siwanis) 2025, which was launched today.

Organised by the state government, the programme aims to train and produce more knowledgeable women who are ready to contribute to policy-making and leadership development in the state.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said Siwanis provides participants with direct exposure to the state’s administrative processes and policy-making.

“We don’t want women to merely fill quotas or serve as symbolic figures. We want them to emerge as knowledgeable, competent leaders who can champion the people’s welfare,” she said during the programme launch at Crystal Crown Hotel, here.

The intensive programme includes two workshop sessions focusing on topics such as policy-making processes, Selangor State Legislative Assembly protocols and regulations, and the State Constitution.

Siwanis 2025 is also carried out in strategic collaboration with the Selangor State Assembly Speaker’s Office, the implementing agency Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), academic institutions, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
