SHAH ALAM, June 7 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today joined Aidiladha prayers at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here, with around 10,000 congregants.
The Ruler arrived at the mosque at 7.35am in a dark grey baju Melayu with Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and other state leaders, including State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah, and state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.
The Ruler then listened to the Aidiladha sermon by Selangor deputy mufti Assoc Prof Dato’ Miszairi Sitiris titled “Sacrifice or Be Sacrificed”, which invited congregants to understand the meaning of sacrifice.
This year, the Selangor government contributed 1,000 goats and 700 cows to mosques, surau and community groups for sacrificial rites.
