KLANG, June 6 — The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) will take strict action against renters who flout the rule of hiring foreign workers at stalls and kiosks under its jurisdiction.
When met at the “Cintai Sungai Klang” mini convention yesterday, Klang Mayor Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said this includes suspending renters’ licences, and that the MBDK will monitor the over 800 stalls under its watch to ensure they are not handled by foreigners.
“This enforcement is only for stalls belonging to or approved by the MBDK. Our aim is to help those starting businesses with small capitals, so we impose low rent. If they need workers, they must operate at bigger stores or restaurants. That is why we’re enforcing the rule against foreign workers: to help locals,” he said.
From June 1, the local authority has enforced a ban on hiring foreigners as helpers at stalls and kiosks under its jurisdiction.
The rule was set to update the stall worker registration system, with the MBDK reminding renters to adhere to the new regulation.
