SHAH ALAM, June 3 — The full report on the technical investigation into the April 1 gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, will be complete by June 26.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said findings from the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH) will be merged with the result of the police investigation to ensure a comprehensive report.

“The technical probe is being conducted based on the given timeframe, that is, by June 26. The criminal investigation by police, meanwhile, can’t be disclosed, as there are still aspects being probed into.

“This includes assessing the integrity of the pipeline, ground movement, and external activity pressure, among others. All of these fall under DOSH’s scope,” he told reporters after officiating the e-bike handover ceremony to Selangor police at the state contingent headquarters here today.

Earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the criminal investigation, which includes identifying the possibility of negligence and sabotage, is complete, and the force is awaiting the DOSH report before taking further action.

The explosion on April 1 triggered a massive blaze with flames soaring over 30m high. It took nearly eight hours for firefighters to extinguish the fire. The blast left behind a large crater nearly 10m deep.

At today’s event, the state government contributed 10 e-bikes to Selangor police to facilitate their efforts to maintain public safety and prevent crime.

Amirudin said the RM68,000 contribution, made through Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, reflects the state’s commitment to supporting the efficiency of the security force.

“This is part of a continued effort after several previous contributions to the force. Some of the (contributed) equipment has proven useful, including logistics and disaster (relief) tents recently deployed in Putra Heights.

“We also previously donated e-bikes to the Central Brigade during the Covid-19 pandemic, along with jetskis.”

Amirudin added that the contribution is part of the state administration’s broader initiative to prioritise safety, especially considering Selangor’s large population.

“These e-bikes can be used in smaller neighbourhoods, allowing for better prevention and control efforts by police for the people’s safety and convenience,” he said.
