SEPANG, June 1 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari yesterday launched the RM10 million Selangor Strata Fund to resolve the issue of old apartments without strata ownership.

He said the allocation shows the state administration’s commitment to handle the decades-long ownership issue plaguing the community.

“This initiative was introduced to solve Selangor’s many strata ownership issues. Normal strata issues like sewer drains, leaky pipes, damaged tanks and lifts; we can handle, but at the same time, we are solving the ownership problem because it is residents’ rights as the people (of Selangor).

“Over 15 years, we estimate that over 80,000 land ownership cases in Selangor have been authenticated and handed over, not only residences, but also mosques, surau, and houses of worship.

“We are starting with a fund of RM10 million and will use it fully. If there is a need, we are ready to add to the fund as strata ownership issues in Selangor are widespread,” he said at the Sepang Municipal Council’s Strata Community Tour event at the Taman Putra Perdana food court today.

Earlier, Amirudin, who was accompanied by state executive councillor for housing and culture Dato’ Borhan Aman Shah, presented strata ownership grants to three recipients in Taman Putra Perdana.

When tabling the 2025 Selangor State Budget, Amirudin said RM10 million had been allocated as an initial fund to solve strata issues in the state.

In December, he said the state government was aiming to resolve 70 to 90 per cent of strata ownership issues over the next few years.

Amirudin added that 138,000 strata homes in the state face ownership issues, which are affecting asset and property values.
