KLANG, May 28 — Six families who fell victim to a fire at Taman Kem Apartment here have received RM18,000 in total aid.
MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said he hopes the RM3,000 assistance for each family would help support their daily needs.

“Every family received disaster aid of RM3,000. MBI Foundation allocates RM1 million a year for disaster aid, including for storms, fires, and floods.

“If they need education assistance, especially for kids going to school or university, such as laptops or daily expenses, we can help,” he said when met after an aid handover ceremony here today.
Meanwhile, Pelabuhan Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri said the aid, channelled by the MBI Foundation, could help victims at least by a little bit.
“Any non-governmental organisations that want to help are welcome to channel aid through the community service centre to ensure aid reaches the right victims,” he said.
Recipient Anisha Packyavati Abdullah, 59, said her home, which was destroyed in the fire, could take three months to repair.

“I didn’t expect to receive aid, thank God. It can help us financially for now and also for home repairs,” she said.
Another recipient, P. Saradha, 65, who is temporarily accommodated at a relative’s home in Telok Panglima Garang, said the aid will be used to fund home repairs.
In the February 24 incident, six units at Taman Kem Apartment caught fire, with the homes suffering severe damage.
