JOHOR BAHRU, May 24 — Leaders, whether victorious or defeated in yesterday’s party elections, must stand united on common ground to further strengthen the party ahead of the 16th general election (GE16), said Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice president is confident that with cooperation, they can secure up to 50 Parliamentary seats and win the Sabah State Election, positioning the party as the backbone of the future government.

“If we move forward and stand together, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will remain as Prime Minister for a second term. I believe in it. Twenty-six years ago, we started with limited resources; now we have the opportunity to prove what we have long stood for.

“Today, we are in government and bear a great responsibility. The way forward is to strengthen the party machinery and clearly define our working strategy.

"There must be confidence in how we begin this journey,” he said in his closing speech during the 2024/2025 Keadilan National Congress at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre today.

Last night, party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured that candidates who lost in this term’s election would not be sidelined, but instead embraced as part of the collective struggle to move the party forward.

In the party elections, Nurul Izzah Anwar was elected as deputy president after defeating defending incumbent cum Economy Minister Datuk Rafizi Ramli, securing 9,803 votes.

Amirudin retained his vice presidency with 7,955 votes, followed by Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Deputy Minister cum Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who garnered 5,895 votes, winning the position from Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad

The two other vice presidents are also incumbents: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun with 5,881 votes; and Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang with 5,757 votes.

12 Keadilan members contested for the four vice president positions in the party’s top leadership lineup for the 2025–2028 term.

The election for the Central Leadership Council (MPP), the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Leadership Council, and the Central Women’s Leadership Council was held from 8am to 5pm, involving 32,030 voters both physically and online.
