PUTRAJAYA, May 24 — The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) raided a premises in the Sungai Puloh Light Industrial Area in Klang on Wednesday (May 21) for suspected involvement in the misappropriation of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said they carried out a month-long intelligence before raiding the premises, and preliminary inspections found that it is an LPG wholesale and distribution company with a valid licence.

"But, after operating hours, it was turned into a place for decanting activities, which involves the transferring of subsidised LPG from 14kg cylinders for household use into 50kg capacity cylinders for industrial use by using specially designed connection hoses,” he said.

Azman added that 1,530 LPG cylinders, connecting hoses and various other equipment used in the operation, including three three-tonne lorries, were seized, with the total amount of seizures estimated at RM300,000.

Three men, including a Malaysian, aged between 25 and 47, working at the premises were also detained, and an investigation paper has been opened under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
