KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 — The King and Queen of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, have conveyed their condolences to the families of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who were killed in a road crash in Teluk Intan, Perak earlier today.
The royal couple expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and prayed that those who lost loved ones would be granted strength, resilience, and ease in navigating this difficult time.
“May their souls be blessed and granted mercy,” said Their Majesties in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar also conveyed his condolences.
“Their loss is a deep sorrow for all of us. May Allah shower blessings on their souls, accept the righteous deeds they have done, and forgive all their sins.
“We are grateful for their services and sacrifices in maintaining peace and security in the community. May the families left behind be granted fortitude and strength in facing this ordeal,” he said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud expressed his condolences to the victims' families.
“It is hoped that a thorough investigation can be carried out by the authorities to identify the true cause of this incident, and preventive measures can be taken to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” he said in a Facebook post.
In the 8.50am incident, nine FRU members lost their lives and two others were seriously injured when the FRU lorry they were travelling in collided with another truck, carrying gravel stones, along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan.
