OSAKA (Japan), May 9 — The Transformation Plan 2028 (THRIVE28) introduced by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has sparked strong interest among industry players at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, boosting prospects for investment in the state.

MBI chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan Mat Yusop said the organisation shared its vision for the plan during engagement sessions at the expo, focusing on property and development, as well as energy and utilities.

“Through THRIVE28, MBI is not only focusing on property development but also aims to attract major technology companies from Japan to invest in Selangor.

"This is part of our efforts to help fulfil Selangor's vision of becoming Asia's hub and a prime destination for investment," he told Media Selangor.

Saipolyazan was met after accompanying Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah on a visit to the Panasonic Holdings Corporation Museum in Osaka yesterday.

He added that the Osaka expo serves as a key platform to promote the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign and attract Japanese tourists.

“MBI also brought along Tourism Selangor to showcase the state’s tourism offerings, as Japan is among the top five countries with the highest number of tourists to Malaysia.

“We hope the products displayed at the Malaysia Pavilion and during Selangor Week will draw more Japanese visitors to the state and help us reach our target of eight million tourist arrivals,” he said.

The Selangor Week exhibition, held under the theme ‘Building a Resilient Future’, highlights Selangor as a future-ready state that is globally connected, competitive, and driven by technology, culture, and youth energy.

The week-long programme positions Selangor as a dynamic state of the future, showcasing its strengths in innovation, connectivity, and cultural vibrancy.

Malaysia’s participation in the expo through Pavilion Malaysia, themed ‘Weaving a Future in Harmony’, forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the country’s global presence and economic partnerships.
