SHAH ALAM, May 6 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) sponsored 100 individuals to participate in a three-day Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) course at Dewan MPAJ Cheras Hartamas.
It said the programme, which ran from April 22 to April 25, was organised in collaboration with Think Big Training, Tabung Khas Warisan Khas Kesihatan (TWKK), Majlis Permuafakatan Wakaf Antarabangsa, and Pertubuhan Prihatin Malaysia.
"The courses were offered for the public, particularly Ampang Jaya residents, to increase their skills with guidance from trained professionals with a wide array of experience.
“They are short-term skills-based courses with the potential to help generate income and improve the economy,” MPAJ said in a statement.
The courses offered included entrepreneurship in cake and bread making, garment tailoring, hairdressing, air-conditioning technician training, and electrical wiring.
Each course involved 20 participants and was fully sponsored by the MPAJ Endowment under the High Impact Economic Development programme (HIEDP).
MPAJ President Ani Ahmad officiated the closing ceremony and certificate presentation for the participants on April 26.
At the event, the council also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TWKK and Think Big Training to drive community development in Ampang Jaya.
“The MPAJ Endowment is a welfare fund set up to collect donations to finance activities focused on community welfare and well-being, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals,” it said.
Contributions can be made to MPAJ’s Bank Islam account (account no. 12122010044609), in cash at the MPAJ payment counters, via credit/debit card or e-wallet, or online through iCOMM MPAJ and the QR code.
