SHAH ALAM, May 5 — Five local startups from Selangor have been given a valuable opportunity to showcase their innovations on the global stage, as they participate in two major international events — the World Expo 2025 Osaka and SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025 — from May 4 to 12 in Japan.
The delegation, led by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), is also aimed at boosting international exposure for the local startups while connecting them with global investors, industry leaders, and innovation ecosystem partners.
In a statement, Sidec said the mission, which is supported by the state government, is part of its ongoing efforts to promote digital entrepreneurship and help local startups explore new markets and partnerships.
"Sidec’s participation in these two global events is part of a broader mission to position Selangor as a leading innovation hub in Southeast Asia.
"Through international exposure, partnerships, and technology engagement, Sidec continues to support the growth of Selangor startups and contribute to building a resilient and future-ready economy," it said today.
The selected firms are Xtractify Sdn Bhd, Collaborative Excellence Sdn Bhd, GoFluence Holding, Neupulse Sdn Bhd and Hikayat Kebun Sdn Bhd.
"Each of these startups brings unique value propositions in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital marketing, community engagement, sustainability consulting, and agritech — demonstrating the diversity and potential of Selangor’s startup ecosystem," it said.
According to Sidec, the delegation will take part in Selangor Week at the World Expo 2025 Osaka from May 4 to 7.
The state digital transformation agency, in collaboration with agencies including the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), Cyberview and Monsta, will host a series of programmes such as panel discussions with tech experts and policymakers, startup pitching sessions, fireside chats with founders, and speed networking events.
"These sessions are designed to showcase Selangor’s innovation potential and to position the state as a key player in the regional digital economy."
Following this, Sidec said the delegation will participate in the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, a high-profile startup conference from May 8 to 11, which is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors and feature more than 500 startups from across the globe.
The Selangor delegation will be featured at the Malaysia Pavilion, with key activities including startup exhibitions and product showcases, participation in the pitch competition, and conference speaking slots and technology tracks.
Sidec added that this mission aims to deepen cooperation between Malaysia and Japan in digital economy initiatives, technology exchange, and startup collaboration.
Since 2018, Sidec has helped accelerate over 320 startups through initiatives like the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) and Selangor E-Commerce Xccelerator (ECX).
To date, 65 startups have successfully raised a combined total of over RM203 million.
