SHAH ALAM, May 1 — More than 1,500 participants flooded Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam today to take part in the International Women’s Day Run, a state government initiative to further boost the Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 campaign.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the run was specially organised to promote a healthy lifestyle among the public and stimulate domestic tourism.

“This programme will certainly help people adopt a healthier lifestyle. At the same time, we are using this initiative to promote the VSY2025 campaign, which has already recorded nearly two million visitors as of March,” he said at the event.

Earlier, Amirudin flagged off participants in the 10km and 5km categories, which took place in a lively, relaxed, and family-friendly atmosphere.

Adding further excitement to the event was the return of the Selangor Mega Food Festival, which had not been held for quite some time.

Running from today until Sunday (May 4), it offers a variety of exciting and unique activities, including food demonstrations and evening cultural performances.

Following the Selangor Mega Food Festival, VSY2025 will continue to be enlivened by the upcoming Festival Kampung Baru in August, which aims to highlight the identity of new villages across the state.

VSY2025 features more than 60 programmes and events, with its promotions focusing on several key segments including ecotourism, agro-tourism, arts, and culture.
