KUALA LANGAT, April 29 — The Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) has allocated nearly RM5 million to develop a modern crematorium along Jalan Serdang Belah near Kampung Sungai Buaya, scheduled to begin at the end of this year.

The Special Committee for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism's (Limas) co-chairman Ng Sze Han said the one-acre project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will greatly benefit the multi-ethnic and multi-religious community.

“This crematorium will be equipped with three cremation units built using modern technology that emphasises operational efficiency, user safety, and environmental preservation.

“The building will also feature various support facilities for users' convenience, including parking that can accommodate three buses, 25 cars, and 30 motorcycles,” he said.

Ng was speaking during a press conference after officiating the crematorium's groundbreaking ceremony at the Quayside Mall today. Also present was the state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.

He added that the additional facilities include a guardhouse, an administrative office, a ceremonial space, as well as public toilets and amenities for disabled persons.

“This project has been carefully planned to meet the growing needs of the non-Muslim community in the Kuala Langat district, in line with an inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development policy.

“We are confident that implementing this project will directly contribute to the improvement of residents’ quality of life, while also reflecting MPKL’s commitment to providing professional, integrated, and people-friendly services,” Ng said.
