SHAH ALAM, April 28 — The state government, via Selcare Management Sdn Bhd, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) today to expand access to heart health services across Selangor, particularly for vulnerable communities.
The partnership aims to enhance the Skim Rawatan Jantung Selangor programme by providing early diagnosis, as well as screening and treatment for heart diseases at no cost or subsidised rates for eligible individuals.
SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken said the hospital’s expertise, including its 28 centres of excellence and dedicated Heart, Lung and Vascular Centre, will support the initiative in delivering high-quality cardiac care.
“We have 13 cardiologists, covering both adult and paediatric care, and offer a comprehensive range of cardiology subspecialties.
“This partnership with Selcare reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and delivering high-quality care to underserved communities, in line with our corporate social responsibility initiatives,” he said in a statement today.
Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd chief executive officer cum managing director Dr Nurul Mu'az Omar, who represented Selcare at the signing ceremony, said the partnership reflects the state’s mission of linking public health policies with private sector capabilities to ensure no one is left behind.
The ceremony at SMC in Sunway City was witnessed by the state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
The state administration welcomed the collaboration, emphasising the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing critical health issues, such as heart disease.
Selcare, a subsidiary of Selgate Healthcare, currently administers several state-backed programmes, including Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS) and Selangor Saring, benefitting over 600,000 individuals nationwide through a vast network of clinics and hospitals.
